Mount La Plata
Colorado,March 2008
We traveled to Colorado
looking for a Winter
Ascend on Longs
Peak...but the treachery
Colorado Weather had
the upper hand, after
reviewing the Mountain
Weather information  and
calculating the Winds to
be about 100MPH close
to 12,000 ft We decided
to Head South-West and
look for lesser Winds.
Thus We got to Mount La
Plata.
Snow Shoes on and We took into the trail head at 10,000ft. The snow covered to whole trail and finding the Route
proved to be a Challenge. Happy to say We pushed on and kept a good Bering turn the Mountain on the RIGHT
direction.

Over all We had a good trip with AWESOME views and excellent snowshoeing. The weather was perfect, unless
of course, You would wanted to climb beyond 12,000 feet.

After a 0 degrees night We woke up to 60 to 80 miles per hour wind above our head. Looking up the mountain We could
see the gust of wind shuffling the snow around and created Snow plums on the summit as well as Snow devils in the sky. It
was a beautiful sight. But was the sight We did not want to see, for then We new this was not a good day to climb.
